The 2025 Met Gala, held on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, celebrated the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," honoring Black dandyism and its influence on fashion. This year's exhibition, inspired by Monica L. Miller's book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores Black men's style from the 18th century to the present day .
The dress code, "Tailored for You," encouraged attendees to embrace personal style through tailored silhouettes, reimagining menswear . Co-chaired by Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair, the event showcased bold fashion choices and cultural statements .
Notable appearances included Pharrell Williams and wife Helen Lasichanh in Louis Vuitton, Zendaya in a white Burberry suit, Sabrina Carpenter in Louis Vuitton, and Rihanna, who revealed her third pregnancy in a striking Marc Jacobs suit dress . Diana Ross captivated the crowd with a silver cape embroidered with her descendants' names, while Janelle Monáe donned a dual-hued illusion ensemble symbolizing time-traveling dandyism .
The evening also featured performances and commentary from influencers like Emma Chamberlain, adding to the gala's dynamic atmosphere . The "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" exhibition will be open to the public at The Met from May 10 through October 26, 2025 .
